Biography College career A 6'7" center from St. Lawrence University, Alexander played for the NCAA Division I St. Lawrence Saints men's basketball team from 1975 to 1979, where he was a 1978–79 Second-Team All-American. His senior season of 1979–80 saw him average over 22 points and 16 rebounds a game, leading the nation with a 68.8% free throw percentage. Alexander was an Assistant Coach at the University of Massachusetts from 1990 to 1997, working with future NBA players Shaquille O'Neal, Mark Price and Chris Mills. NBA career Alexander was drafted by the San Diego Clippers with the 9th overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft. He played four years with the Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks, and made the playoffs in his rookie season. He went on to play for the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, and the Washington Bullets, before retiring in 1990. He retired after the 1989–90 season after playing in just 50 games. He was on the 1986 NBA All-Rookie Second Team and the 1989 NBA All-Star Game. Alexander won the 1986 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He played an integral part in the Dallas Mavericks' three consecutive NBA titles in 1989, 1990 and 1991. In total, Alexander played 10 NBA seasons and scored a total of 3,597 points in the regular season and 66 playoff games. Post-NBA career After retiring from the NBA, Alexander moved to London, Ontario in 1990 where he played for the London Lightning of the British Basketball League, where he averaged 22
